The Single

The title refers to success of The Chronic album that allowed Dr. Dre to get into the main stream of Hip-Hop placing himself to the front line by pushing down Easy-E and his record label form the throne. The lyrics is also a message to him, questioning his producing abilities and his right to claim that Dre illegally (breach of contract) left to Death Row. It couldn't match the popularity of the Nuthin' But a "G" Thang hit, although it reached the 12th spot on the US chart in June 1993 and the 58th place (counting the 12 weeks spent)on the rap/hip-hop chart on that years overall rating. It even topped the Billboard Chart at the 8th position.

Plot

After Eazy-e called Dre a traitor, Dre responded with that video shot in 1993. The feud didn't have much publicity and the video itself didn't start any scandal. The prologue of the video is about a parody character of Easy getting a new contract from a fat white money-grabber record producer. During the whole song the lyrics slags off Eazy while it's Snoop and Dre appearing in a parking garage. Later the storey is filled with people dancing, the artists and a lowrider...of course. There's an interlude in the middle of the song, where Eazy introduces his two new grotesque protégés to the fat man. Looking at the entire video Eazy appears many times being smacked from the back, getting shot down by Dre with a laser beam weapon, begging for food or being chased by armed fellow homeboys. But as the final caption says : "Any resemblance to any persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental".
